There were 2 lightning visits with the P3 classes, where I got to see their excellent newspaper reports, book reviews and art work - I tell you, I felt 10 foot tall leaving the classrooms after hearing and seeing all that quality work - THANK YOU!
And there were creative writing workshops with the P7 and P6 classes - we were writing flash fiction story starters. It was really exciting stuff - no two stories the same, and hearing the writers read out afterwards was a highlight for me! And here are just a few quick photos of just some of the Writers at Work - can you name them? (If only everybody had transparent heads, you'd be able to see the amazing stories inside!)
And I'm coming back!!!!! I'll be telling you more about my next visit closer to the time. Can't wait!
P.S. Photos from the Mystery Assembly are on their way - come back to the blog soon and you'll get to see them!
When Joan Lennon came to our school, we did a bit of flash fiction writing. We had five minutes to put down ideas .To help us she gave us pictures of houses and cards to give us ideas. I really enjoyed it, it was fun. At the end we got to read it out with passion. Thank you Joan Lennon. By Conor P7B
ReplyDeleteJoan Lennon taught us how to write a flash fiction about a house and a goodie or a baddie .Your goodie or baddie had to be going towards the house or away from the house and you had to write about your character and you had to make it interesting . I made my story about Minecraft and Logan made his about a prison .It was really fun to write freely. Thanks Joan! By Lewis and Logan P7B
ReplyDeleteOn the 13th of May 2015 Joan Lennon, our very own patron of reading came to our class and helped us with writing, the type of writing that we had written with Joan was called flash mob writing. Flash mob writing is a type of writing that starts right in the action. To get us ready to start the writing we got given two cards either ‘goodie or baddie’ or the other ones that were ‘going to or going away from.’ I got a baddie card and my other card said going away from, the story that we had to write about was about a house. In my story the very first sentence was ‘Just then he jumped, the only sound that he could hear was his four legged friend crying…’ I enjoyed writing that story because it was quite short and you didn’t have to write very much. Thanks Joan. By Eve Wallace P7B
ReplyDeleteWelcome aboard the blog, P7B - and keep up the great writing!
ReplyDeleteMr Stink By David Walliams
ReplyDeleteMr Stink is one of my favourite books, I would recommend this book to anyone because it’s a book that will take you on an adventure that everyone will enjoy.
This book is about a little girl who rehomes an old man called Mr Stink. Mr Stink lived on the streets with his dog. The little girl also looked after Mr Stink she washed his clothes she gave him a bath and she also would bring him food. The only problem is that the little girl's mum would not listen to her, all her mum cared about was her sister who was spoilt. But at the end her mum decides to help her daughter with Mr Stink. This heart-warming story is for any age and anyone can enjoy.

I was falling from the top of my house. There was water all around my house. Now Fergus, I knew the witch was near when my phone started to melt. Quickly I ran out the house and there she was double barrel shotgun in one hand broomstick in the other…
